India Rejects “Hybrid Model” for Events Held in Its Country

- The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), which has been adamant about the hybrid model regarding the Champions Trophy, has refused to accept the hybrid formula for ICC events held in its country.
BCCI’s Proposal to PCB
- According to a report by The Telegraph, the BCCI had proposed to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) to adopt the hybrid model for all ICC events scheduled in India until 2031.
- The proposal suggested that if the Indian team does not visit Pakistan for the Champions Trophy, then the Pakistan team will also not travel to India.
- This stance was attributed to the Pakistani government’s restrictions due to security concerns.
BCCI’s Current Stand
- The BCCI now asserts that there are no security issues in India.
- It has declared that no event will be conducted on the hybrid model.
Security Reviews by ICC
- ICC delegations, alongside India, have previously visited Pakistan to review security and stadium construction.
- These delegations did not raise any objections during their visits.
- Despite this, India refused to travel to Pakistan, citing security concerns.
