77,000 Metric Tons of Wheat Spoiled in Warehouses in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa

It has been revealed that 77,762 metric tons of wheat spoiled in warehouses due to negligence or carelessness of the officials of the Food Department of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Value and Risks of Spoiled Wheat
Private TV Dunya News said with reference to documents that the value of wheat purchased from PASSCO is about 11 billion rupees. Consumption of spoiled wheat can be harmful to human health.
Investigation into Wheat Quality
The document said that is the wheat lying in the warehouses usable or not? A high-level investigation committee consisting of 6 members was formed in this regard.
Statement from Secretary Food
Secretary Food Ashfaq Ahmed has said that the quality of wheat will be checked after various tests, the reasons for which the wheat spoiled are being seen. The committee will decide whether the wheat is usable or not.
Safety Measures and Challenges
He said that wheat will not be used in any way if it is harmful to health. The food department lacks technical personnel. Each type of wheat has its own life cycle, and the wheat in the warehouses is being tested.
